Keep it moving...

A lot to do!  We need to create posters, price everything, pass out our flyer, borrow tables anyone might be able to lend us?   With all that work ahead of me, I am still really looking forward to this yard sale! For one, I enjoy yard sales.  Secondly, I am looking forward to staying active in our adoption process.  When you are in the waiting phase, you are literally just waiting.  So far this hasn't been too hard for us but then again we have only been waiting about a month.  I can start to see how hard it might become or how we could start to feel a bit discouraged as the months pass.  Keeping up on this blog and continuing to keep moving towards bringing home our baby is what is going to get us through.  Thank you to all of those who have donated items for this sale, everyone is being so generous and we are so so grateful.  I can not wait to share how it goes this weekend.  Please pray the weather holds up for us because there is no way it will all fit in our garage.

We set up a YouCaring website in our effort to raise money for our adoption costs.  We appreciate any donations you are able to give.  We are so grateful for everyone and the support you continue to give in this journey we are on.  We can not wait to be matched with a birth mom and have another baby to call our own...  Thank you!!  We love you all...

Come support our adoption, Yard Sale May 4th & 5th!

I surely hope it doesn't rain because I have a garage full of stuff for the sale and it is going to be big!  Several people have already donated items to us and continue to do so in an effort to help us raise money for our adoption.  I feel like this yard sale is going to be extremely successful and I'm excited.  Thank you everyone for supporting us and we want you to know how much it means to us.  We are so grateful to have you all in our lives, sharing this journey...  A great friend of mine made a flyer to promote this yard sale and I am making copies and getting it up and out to people everywhere!

On another note, yesterday we received our first monetary donation from some amazing friends, Thank you!  It was very thoughtful, now to start the account and watch it grow....

"I Ain't to proud to Beg"

Yesterday we had some friends over for an Easter dinner and among these friends was a political campaign guru.  We were all discussing ideas for fundraising for our adoption.  This is an uncomfortable part of our adoption process so far.  Joe and I are both very open to what it is we need to do to raise money for our baby, but it does put us in unfamiliar territory.  Our good friend had great ideas, of course he gave us the facts of what gets you money and what doesn't get you money and how to go about it.  At first we were thinking "Oh no we are not calling people for money", but then we let him talk and listened to why this strategy works the best and where this strategy leads, and our friends were extremely supportive in their thoughts about how we would be great at this.  So, I have since been trying to pump myself up to make a list, get prepared and start the process.  Our adoption at this point is looking at being somewhere in the vicinity of $22,000-$30,000.  We are praying that we do not go over that.  So far Joe and I had what we needed to get us this far, and we are prepared for other small costs, but once we are matched we will need a huge lump sum and we don't know when that will be.  At this point we are only waiting with our agency here in Tennessee but once Amanda writes up our finished home study (12 pages about our life), we will send it along with our profile and application to an agency in Florida and be waiting with them as well.  In advance, I apologize if it is uncomfortable to you when I call and ask.  Please know that I understand the economy is rocky and everyone is struggling in their own way and I know it will be hard to say no, but if you have to we completely understand and are still hoping for your support.  We know that God has a plan for us and have faith that it will all work out in the end....

As I was thinking about this post, all that I could here in my head was TLC's version of "I ain't to proud to beg", it might not have been about the same kind of love that we are after, but it still rang in my ears while I wrote this....lol!!

Lola Practicing!

Today I received a text from Lola's teacher with a picture of Lola practicing bathing a baby brother or sister.  It made my heart melt.  She is so excited and I hope that during this waiting period, which could be a long time, she stays excited.  I am trying not to get everything done all at once so that each month we are focused on something to do with adopting our child.  I just love how Lola is eager to learn all about babies and having daily discussions of what it would be like to have a sibling.  Too precious!  We also received our photo book in the mail yesterday and dropped it off at our agency.  There are a few changes I am going to make before ordering more and those will go to the other agency we are going to work with in Florida.  Other than that, here we are....waiting...

The race is on!

So three of my dearest friends are pregnant and I couldn't be more happy for them.  Two of which this will be their first and one that this will be their second.  When Lola found out one of them was pregnant, she asked us if we could adopt their baby.  I tried to explain that this child's mom was able to be a parent to their baby and that we will be adopting a baby who's mother would not be able to care for their child.  This was a delicate subject to discuss with a five year old.  She didn't quite grasp what that all meant and frankly I didn't know how far to go.  Anyhow - we are so excited for our friends and looking forward to the births of their children!!  On that note, the running deal now is....who will have their baby first, me or them?!
